SDC Community Initiatives

Stratford-on-Avon District Council has begun a review of open space, sport and recreation provision across the district.
The aim is to ensure that local communities have access to facilities and services that meet their sporting, leisure and recreational needs, both now and in the future. The review will cover a wide range of open spaces, from parks and gardens, to outdoor sports, children’s play areas and allotments. Click here to download a Parish Talk issue that provides a little more detail about the project.
One of the most important elements of the review is to understand what local communities think about existing open space and sports provision in the local area and how it could be improved. This information will be inputted directly into the review and will influence the findings and outcome of the project.

Please complete the questionnaire from the following link, to enable us to understand your views:
http://www.stratford.gov.uk/survey/open_spaces/_open_space__sport_and_recreation_questionnaire.htm

We would also value any additional information or insights into the local area that you can provide us with relating to the quality and level provision of open space, sports facilities and other amenities such as community halls, allotments and cemeteries in your local area. We hope to organise a workshop on open space and sports provision for Parish Councils soon. We would really appreciate it if you could come and represent the views of your local area. Details of workshop arrangements will follow shortly.

If you have any questions about the review, please do not hesitate to contact Miriam Owen at Stratford District Council on 01789 260332 or email miriam.owen@stratford-dc.gov.uk

D
irections for Stratford-on-Avon District - Consultation Core Strategy
What should Stratford District look like in the future?

The District Council has published a draft Core Strategy for consultation and comment. It puts forward a wide range of development sites to meet housing, employment and community needs, as well as policies to manage the location, form and quality of development.
A number of ‘drop in’ sessions were arranged for anyone interested to discuss the document with planning officers from the District Council.

Please ring Sue Nash, Planning Performance and Monitoring Officer on 01789 260321 for further information. The document can be viewed on the District Council website www.stratford.gov.uk/corestrategy

The closing date for comments on the Draft Core Strategy was Thursday 8 April 2010.
