Southam/Feldon Community Forum 23rd June

Southam/Feldon Community Forum (including surrounding villages) was be held on Wednesday 23rd June at The Priors Hall, Priors Marston, Warwickshire CV47 7RS.

Community Forums are public meetings led by the County Council and Stratford-on-Avon District Council to engage the public in council business. Warwickshire Police promote 'Safer Neighbourhoods' through the Community Forums. Additionally the Safer Neighbourhood Teams hold a surgery prior to the forum during which time tea/coffee is available. Community Forums give YOU the opportunity to raise issues of local concern and keep up to date with what is happening in YOUR community.

Notes of meeting 23rd June.

The Southam/Feldon Community Forum met on 23 June 2010 at The Priors Hall, Priors Marston and this is the overview of its meeting. At this meeting a new Chair and Vice Chair were elected. Cllr David Wise thanked the forum for their support during his time as Chair and nominations for a new Chair were received. Cllr Chris Williams was duly elected as Chair and Cllr Jennifer Ellard was duly elected as Vice Chair.

Local Policing Update
PCSO Katrina Taylor provided a presentation on community policing issues relating to the area which included an update on previous matters raised at the previous meeting of the Forum.

Priorities identified to be addressed over the next three months were:
§ Speeding motorbikes on the A423
§ Anti social behaviour in Wattons Lane
§ Speeding – Church Lane, Long Itchington
§ Speeding on the A425

Andy Duckett, Watch Manager at Southam Fire Station, Warwickshire Fire & Rescue provided information to the forum about Home Fire Safety Checks and the availability of free smoke alarms as well as other aspects of the teams work

Southam Vision Group update
Katherine Geddes, SDC Area Co-ordinator for the Dassett area gave an update on the projects that have been undertaken following £25k funding from SDC. These projects included Community Technology Bank (elephant kiosk), Farmers Market signage, native trees and streetscene, 2 x village hall facilities (DDA compliant), Rec Ground – youth shelter and perimeter fencing, Community café equipment, Cycle route feasibility study, Traffic study – Market Hill, supporting Orbit Housing open day, Village office equipment (Stockton), Southam Lions – Rural Cinema

You Said, We Did - follow up actions from the last meeting included:

• Priors Marston Parish Council to be included on Polices newsletter
• Residents at Chestnut Place – parents picking up and dropping off at the school
• Bascote Heath - signage
• Locality Plan/Action Plan
• Pot Holes
• Litter

Items raised included:-

• High Speed Rail Link Consultation
• Dog Fouling
• Landfill at Ufton
• Policing Pledge
Locality Plan/Action Plan
With the four priorities identified for the Locality/Action Plan at the last meeting, the forum was asked to write down more specific actions under the priority headings. SDC and WCC officers were in attendance for the specific priorities and these were listed. These actions will now be developed into a 12 month locality plan for the area.
