Stockton Petanque Club
You may well have seen Pétanque (French Boules) being played while on holiday in France, and might even have tried playing it yourselves. What you might not know is that the game is alive and well in Stockton.
Stockton Pétanque Club (formerly The Half Crown Pétanque Club) has played Pétanque in Stockton since 1989. We play on a purpose-built terrain at Stockton Football and Cricket Club which currently comprises eight playing lanes.
We play socially, seriously and internationally! We boast a number of England internationals, and have represented England in the European Cup and we were the English Club Champions in 2010.
Since its inception in February 1989 the Club has grown from a few enthusiasts to the current membership level of over 20 paid up members, with many casual players from the village also attending our many competitions and other functions. The club is therefore an important provider of village recreation, welcoming youngsters, senior citizens and the disabled, all of whom have benefited from the club's activities.
We take part in the Heart of England leagues and various Regional/National competitions. On the social side, we play every Saturday from 1.00pm, and once the lighter nights arrive we will be hosting coaching sessions on Tuesday evenings.
Stockton Pétanque Club is always pleased to welcome new members, so why not come and join us on Saturday afternoons from 1.00pm. We can lend you some boules, instruct you in rules of the game and ensure that you have an interesting experience, whether you are 8 or 80 years old.
