Free week-long fitness event for people with disabilities comes to Stratford District
A week-long event dedicated to celebrating inclusivity will take place this month across Stratford-on-Avon District.
The free community event, called ‘Include Me Week’, will invite people with disabilities to take part in a range of fun, healthy activities from Monday 23 September to Friday 27 September.
The first-of-its-kind event is being hosted by leading leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Stratford-on-Avon District Council, with the goal of ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate in exercise.
All sessions taking place throughout the week have been adapted and designed to suit the needs and preferences of people with disabilities – showing or hidden.
From quiet swims and inclusive multisport sessions, to seated exercise and walking tennis, there is something on offer for all ages, interests and abilities.
Southam Leisure Centre is one of the participating locations and gym access will also be available during off-peak hours throughout the week. Both members and non-members are welcome to the event.
Amy Widman, contract activity and wellbeing manager at Everyone Active, said: “Our upcoming Include Me Week encapsulates our commitment to creating a community where everyone feels valued and empowered.
“We are really focused on breaking down barriers in physical activity and the event aims to showcase our support and inclusive offering within our local community.
“It’s set to be a brilliant week and we hope to see you there.”
