Cemetery Charges

The Cemetery in The Radical is operated and maintained by the Parish Council. The end farthest from the village contains the oldest graves that go back to the early 20th century, and many of them are not maintained as the families possibly no longer live in the area. This part is also difficult to mow because the graves are not in regular lines, unlike the more recent graves. The Parish Council is considering leaving this area to become more of a wildlife area possibly with some wild flowers
planted. This is happening in a number of cemeteries or churchyards across the country and are being allowed to become wildlife sanctuaries. However, before any decision is made the Parish Council would like to hear peoples’ views, particularly from those families who may have relatives in one of these older graves.

Fees, payments, and sums fixed by the Stockton Parish Council to operate from 1st April 2008.

INTERMENTS
For the interment and right of burial in an earthen grave not exceeding 2.4 X 1.2 metres: -

3. Cremated remains in a grave not exceeding 1.5 X 1.0 metres - the sum of £75

Or in the case of a stillborn child, where the parents (or one of them) are at the time of interment, were such inhabitants or parishioners.

In all other eventualities, where prior permission has been obtained from Stockton Parish Council, the fees, payments, and sums will be increased by £50, except where the right of burial in the grave in question was acquired by a parishioner who no longer lives in the Parish of Stockton.

Requests for burial plots would normally be granted to those born or resident in Stockton. Other requests for burial plots will be at the discretion of Stockton Parish Council.
