Bus Pass Changes
From 1 April 2009 bus passes for the over 60's are no longer valid on:* coaches on which more than half of the seats can be booked in advance (usually long distance coaches)* park and ride services (although Johnsons who run the Stratford Park and Ride say that they will continue to accept the passes for the moment)* buses intended primarily for tourists (e.g. open topped buses). This change has come about following complaints from local authorities at the seaside and other tourist centres that their bus services were being inundated by those with free passes. The implementation of these changes will be at the discretion of each authority or operator so you may come across different interpretations in different parts of the country, such as the Johnsons decision above.
