Andy Parker became Chief Constable on December 1st 2011, taking over from Keith Bristow who left Warwickshire Police to lead the creation of a new National Crime Agency. Neil Brunton has taken the role of Deputy Cief Constable for the immediate future.
Local policing is provided by the Southam and District Safer Neighbourhoods Team. The team cover 100sq miles from Southam, and consist of the one Police Officer PC Jim BUTLER and 2 Police Community Support Officers PCSO Claire MURRAY and PCSO Matt HODGETTS.
The 999 responses are now from Rugby no longer Stratford. Although sometimes if busy response will be from Leamington Spa. The team are looking to really work very closely with the local NHW to help prevent crime through informing the communities of good crime prevention and community spirit and remaining vigilant.
Alliance briefing note from Andy Parker and Simon Chesterman - November 28 2011
We are writing to provide you with an update on the progress being made by Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police, who are working in alliance to deliver high-quality, value for money policing services across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
A single Alliance Chief Officer Group began operating across both force areas on November 1st 2011. As you may recall from previous communications, both forces will retain separate Chief Constables and Deputy Chief Constables, as well as current force identities, while services will be led across both force areas by two Assistant Chief Constables and two Directors of Service.
West Mercia continues to be led by David Shaw, with Simon Chesterman as Deputy Chief Constable.
Other police officer members of the Alliance Chief Officer Group, with responsibility for the management and delivery of services across both force areas are Assistant Chief Constable Simon Edens (Local Policing) and Assistant Chief Constable Guy Rutter, (Protective Services).
The two Directors of Services with cross-force responsibilities are Richard Elkin, (Enabling Services) and Steve Howarth (Finance).
It is anticipated that senior leads for individual service areas below Chief Officer level will be selected or appointed in early 2012.
Governance Arrangements
Overall Alliance change will be governed by a Steering Group, comprising Chief Constables and Police Authority members. A Programme Board, led by Deputy Chief Constables, will direct the work of individual Directorate Improvements Boards, each led by their Assistant Chief Constable or Director.
Programme Team
An Alliance Programme Team (APT) to manage and coordinate change has now been established at Redditch Police Station in north Worcestershire. It is led by Chief Superintendent Mark Turner, Programme Director, and Paul Mason-Brown, Business Change Authority.

Next step
Senior leaders working in our Protective Services directorates are meeting this month to review the service proposals previously submitted to the Alliance Programme Team and examine the options to progress change. Their work will ensure that any interdependencies with other directorates are identified and that risks are managed.
A similar workshop will take place within Local Policing in early December and similar activity will be taking place within Enabling Services and Finance business areas.
